Alexis said her first word! She was working on "baba" and "aba" all week long, so we decided to encourage "Mama" and "Dada." We spent a lot of time on these sounds with her. Sometimes it seemed like she would want to copy us, but it would still come out as just "baba". Well, today Jared and I were driving home from Wal-Mart and she was doing her aba's and babababa's, so, once again, we started to encourage "dada." Later we started talking about a rough day that Jared had sometime when we first got married; Alexis seemed like she was participating in the conversation in the back of the car. I said, "I think Alexis was there that day, and she wanted you to feel better." Then, as clear as day, from the back of the car, we hear "Da-Da!" Not "dadadada," but "Da-Da!" We were so excited, both our jaws dropped and we just gasped. Then we cheered, which scared her because she started crying. Jared just gushed with pride. We are so proud of our little baby!

You go girl. I tell Mark that Lyla says MaMa but the doesn't believe me. She only does it when she is crying but I like to think she is calling me.
